秦半两是中国最早统一货币，秦半两始铸于秦惠文王二年（公元前336年）。秦始皇统一六国后，于公元前221年将秦半两推行至全国，成为法定货币。汉朝建立之初，承袭秦朝币制，仍用半两钱，直至汉武帝元狩五年（公元前118年）改铸五铢钱，半两钱才退出舞台。The Qin half-liang was the earliest unified currency in China. The Qin half-liang began to be cast in the second year of King Hui of Qin (336 BC). After the unification of the six states by Emperor Qin Shi Huang, in 221 BC, the Qin half-liang was introduced to the whole country and became the legal currency. At the beginning of the Han Dynasty, it inherited the monetary system of the Qin Dynasty and continued to use the half-liang coin until Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (118 BC) changed to the five copper coins, and the half-liang coins were withdrawn from the stage.
