This pair of large vases themed on 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' is a creative fusion of traditional ceramic craftsmanship and a world-renowned painting. The shape is based on the classic willow-leaf vase, slender and upright, with a glaze resembling the sky-blue tone of Song dynasty porcelain. The glaze surface features fine crackling reminiscent of ice cracks, exuding an innate rustic elegance. Using a panoramic technique, the body of the vase reproduces the core scenes of the entire 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' scroll: the busy boats along the Bian River, the lively market scenes of Bianjing, and the staggered arrangement of city buildings are all clearly depicted. The expressions of the figures and architectural details faithfully capture the charm of the original painting, accompanied by the inscription 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' in ink, and a neatly crafted mark at the base, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship. The cleverness lies in 'bearing the painting on porcelain': condensing the vast scroll of this famous painting onto the vase, retaining the cultural essence of 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' while giving it a new form through ceramic texture. When displayed in pairs, the symmetrical shapes and continuous scenes echo each other, making them suitable for Chinese-style living rooms, studies, and other spaces. They serve not only as practical decorative vases but also as 'movable scrolls' carrying the cultural ambiance of the Song dynasty. Combining artistic craftsmanship, cultural significance, and decorative value, they represent one of the exemplary expressions of traditional art in contemporary form.
